About Us

Cyclebrakes is all about brakes for the powersports market and bicycles. We don’t carry tires or chains or bodywork…. Just brakes and a few related products and we make an effort to seek out and carry the highest quality brake products in the world. You won’t see chinese knockoff rotors or generic brand pads at Cyclebrakes. As a matter of fact you probably won’t see many chinese made products at all. You will only see products that belong on the track and at the highest level of competition. At most motorcycle shops and online retailers they know a little about a lot of subjects. At Cyclebrakes we like to think we know a lot about one subject….brakes. Don’t call to ask for a recommendation on what exhaust to install. Call us to ask what brakes would be best on your motorcycle, ATV, UTV or bicycle.

I started racing road bikes in 1985 at the age of 15 and got my first job as a bicycle mechanic about a year later. Shortly thereafter I caught the motorcycle bug and I bought my first motorcycle….A Yamaha YSR 50 for $1100 tax included! I was hooked! I was a US National cycling team mechanic and Campagnolo Neutrel support mechanic from 1988 to 1992 and ran a top expert level mountain bike team in Colorado at the same time which was one of the first teams to race disc brakes on a bicycle…way back in 1992! I moved to Los Angeles in 1994 to be service manager of the top bicycle shop in LA but in 1999 I was burned out on bicycles and switched to my other passion….motorcycles! I became area sales manager of the Socal/AZ/NV territory for Triumph Motorcycles USA and in 2001 I went to work for Galfer USA as bicycle division manager and domestic manufacturing manager which meant that I supervised the design and manufacturing of all of Galfer’s domestically made products (primarily rotors) Part of my job was creating and implementing Galfer’s quality control program which meant that I was checking A LOT of rotors for flatness and quality. At the same time we were among the first to distribute Brembo Radial master cylinders, Accossato brake products, and develop Galfer’s Tsunami race level rotors. We also helped Yoshimura Suzuki win a bunch of superbike championships and we raced pit bikes through the Galfer warehouse for fun!

In 2008 I left Galfer to be a “stay at home dad” and in 2013 I had the opportunity to purchase Cyclebrakes from the original owner. Because I am the sole owner, you can always pick up the phone and call me to talk about a special project you may have, an ancient component that you are trying to bring back to life, what master cylinder upgrade would work best on your motorcycle or whatever you need help with.
